Sheila's Blog - Notes from Family Reunion

Dear Friends,

I just returned from my family reunion in Juno Beach FL. I have 3 younger brothers. I am so grateful for our health. We have good habits around food, alcohol, exercise and bodywork. Dan and I played tennis together. Brian and Mike exchanged biodynamic cranial-sacral work. The lap of luxury, in this case it is our health! We all share a precious gift, our health!

One brother and sister-in-law are contracted to write the first textbook on Colon Hydrotherapy. It is groundbreaking and I wish them well. I look forward to ordering my first copy when the book comes out in 2011-2012. I will keep you posted.

I spent one morning at high tide kayaking the intercoastal islands near JD MacArthur Beach and State Park. Jill Schneider and I tandem kayaked to Munyeon Island where we found out that Dr Munyeon was a homeopath that dispensed 'curing elixirs' to the guests at his Hygeia Hotel on the tiny island.

Another morning, my first cousin, a sister-in-law, Jill Schneider and I met at the Morikami Japanese Gardens in Delray Beach FL. Jill guided us around the grounds. Another factor in good health is to get outdoors and see beauty around you. Nurture your soul as part of your health, nature nurtures. How can you get out in nature more? Gardening, hiking, walking, cycling, swimming. What else?

My brother Mike said that a new school movement is happening in northern Europe. The classrooms are moving into the forests. What about Hawaii? Will they have class on a surfboard? However, the idea is to return to nature for our teacher.

After touring Morikami, the exquisite Japanese garden, we crossed the street and visited the American Orchid Society (AOS). They are the premier orchid society in the US, a 4000 sq ft green house, 3 acres of land and a small lake. Another feast in nature and beauty.

What is the theme here?

Take care of yourself. Enjoy time with mother nature.

Featured Therapist

Intestinal Health Institute Colon Hydrotherapist Marcia RognessHello Everyone!

My name is Marcia Rogness, I am 29 years old, a Mother to a wonderful 4-year-old boy, and work full time at a community service agency. I received my bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Arizona in 2004. After having my son in 2006 I moved to Germany for three years and in one of my visits back to Arizona, my life took a turn for the better. In 2008 I was still feeling overweight from when I was pregnant and I tried to do my very first body detox. I had never heard about colon hydrotherapy before. Part of my detox was to get a couple of colonics and I must admit I was a little scared. At this time my life was opened to a whole new world. I had no idea how important it was to have good colon health and how having an unhealthy life style can cause many different medical problems.

Since my awakening I decided to enroll in the school for colon hydrotherapy and was certified as a colon hydrotherapist in 2008. I would go back and forth between Tucson and Germany and when I was in town, Sheila would continue to educate me and I continued to apply what I had learned on relatives, friends, and returning clients. I moved back to Tucson in 2009 and work with Sheila at the Intestinal Health Institute on my time off. Feel free to contact me to set up an appointment (520) 406-3414. I am fluent in English and Spanish!

Lyme Disease, Some Resources

Lyme disease is more prevalent than we know and its symptoms mimic many other conditions. I found 2 resources, one a cutting edge article, the other a video. Feedback welcome.

Lyme disease: A Look Beyond Antibiotics
Explore Magazine, Volume 14, No. 2, April 2005
Dietrich K. Klinghardt MD, PhD
This is a groundbreaking article on a holistic approach to Lyme's disease.

One of my correspondents sent an email with links about the film Under Our Skin, a Lyme disease documentary that is an expose on this illness again from a holistic point of view. Below are these 3 links to the Lyme disease movie and feedback:

Candida, Infants and Young Children: A Correspondence

Very often, I get notes from people requesting insight or information. I am just passing this one along since Candida is such a big issue and related to so many other conditions.

"Hi, I was doing a search on Candida infection in infants and came across your site. I was hoping you might be able to offer some suggestions. I have a 10-1/2 month old boy who has eczema and food allergies. After his first course of antibiotics, he developed Candida infections in his diaper area that has persisted for about 4 months now. We have used Nystatin and the last time a steroid. It does calm the problem but does not solve it. I have given him probiotic supplements on a daily basis but it does not eliminate the problem. The pediatrician says he is not 'concerned' because the yeast is not oral as well.

I am a speech-language pathologist and I work with many autistic children. I have a 3-1/2 year old boy and did a lot of research before his birth and recall coming across a Candida-autism connection. My personal feeling is that I want to proceed cautiously with both of my boys especially this one who seems to be very sensitive. I want to rid him of this issue. To me, it is a concern.

I have requested that an allergist/immunologist and a gastroenterologist at Children's Hospital in Boston see him. I guess I am concerned about finding the right person to take him to in order to rid him of this issue, as many doctors/specialists do not share the same views on Candida, allergies and autism. And, it may not be the solution we seek. We live far from you and from many specialists who ascribe to these beliefs. I could use some guidance and I am unsure of who is in the area. I live in MA. I would appreciate any insight you could offer.

Sincerely,
Jill"

*********
Hi Jill,

I work with 2 diets that are very effective for IBD, IBS, autism, candida, neurological disorders etc.

Specific Carbohydrate Diet
Gut and Psychology Syndrome by N. Campbell-McBride MD

The diets are zero tolerance for complex sugars and with high quality probiotics. Eczema and food allergies are symptoms of GI and liver problems. Most people can tolerate the fruit and honey on the diet however watch for any reactions. The key is to delete all beans, grains, potatoes and all starchy roots, lactose (milk) and sugar products from the diet. Period. Fruits, veggies, nuts, some seeds, honey, eggs, fish, fowl, meat OK. Organic preferably.

Check Green Smoothie Revolution by Victoria Boutenko. It is a great way to get nutrition and she has a section on children. Also, read Paleodiet by Loren Cordain on our true diet. Good on omega 3's and other fats. You and your children will be well on their way!

Please let me know how all is proceeding.

Take care,
Sheila

PS You might want to have all checked for celiac disease, too.
PSS Please check the article on Candida at my site

Jill Schneider, Circle of Life and Her Detox Retreats

Check out Circle of Life as Jill offers Detox retreats.

She is sponsoring one in October on Long Island NY and another in early December in San Diego CA. The latter will address menopausal issues, a medical intuitive is present, and the diet is raw juice, green smoothies and raw food.

Colon Hydrotherapy Part Time Position Openen

I am looking for a trained colon hydrotherapist who can join our staff, operate the Aquanet equipment, has a wonderful rapport with people, excellent communication skills, can manage the office, is knowledgeable about GI and liver friendly diets and detoxes and is skilled at marketing, networking and planning. The therapist will be able to take over the office when I travel.

If you are that person, call or email, 520-325-9686 or [email protected]. Please also attach resume/curriculum vitae. A wonderful opportunity exists for the right person(s).

Office Space for Rent

I have a beautifully appointed, spacious room for rent for the right practitioner. I prefer someone with an active practice. We are centrally located with kitchen, foyer, office and library facilities. Chi Nei Tsang would be a good fit. I would love to hear from the right person. Call or email Sheila at 520-325-9686 or [email protected].

Retreats at My Home

I continue to offer my second floor private guest bedroom and bath to one or two people who would like to retreat, cleanse, heal or unplug in general for a short period. I can teach the raw food or Specific Carbohydrate Diet for those that are interested. I can guide you through a GI or liver cleanse and provide colon hydrotherapy and massage.

I had another thought about the retreats. We are really designed to move. Exercise is always included in steps to self-care. Some of you might like to become more active in the time you spend in Tucson. Your stay can include hiking, kayaking, swimming, tennis, cycling and/or walking. I can guide you or point you in the right direction. All this, while eating well, hydrating and having some quiet time. Think about it.

Please be in touch if you are interested.
